Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique is a form of deep physical release. The aim is to develop a ‘felt’ consciousness, a new awareness of body use. It is about improving solutions to posture problems, it will change the way you walk, sit and stand looking at easy effective ways to manage daily activities. A complete re-education of body use, a continuous process during which the participant will learn to detect patterns of misuse that may be causing painful muscle tension.

Basically it is looking at learning to look after your back, improve posture and co-ordination. Any physical tension takes its toll on the body and the technique can be learned by anyone interested in improving his body use and being relieved of the aches and pains that come with chronic misuse. It is open to all and with its help anyone who sits, stands or moves can do so with a new grace and poise.

Reflexology

Reflexology is used to stimulate the reflex zones of the body in order to restore the flow of the nerve stimulus between the corresponding cranial and spinal regions of the body, through the hands, feet, ears and face

Bowen Therapy

Bowen therapy is a series of gentle moves on the muscle and connective tissue along the entire body, using the thumb and fingers. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and the treatment is very gentle, subtle and relaxing. The non-invasiveness and gentleness are what makes Bowen therapy so unique. The technique feels ludicrously gentle, but it works! It works by increasing the circulation to the muscles and improves the efficiency of the lymphatic system. It can be performed through light clothing. In many cases, long-standing pain can be relieved in 2-3 sessions, although further treatments may be required in some cases. Bowen therapy addresses many diverse and varied conditions. It is safe and effective for people of all ages.

I’d like to introduce myself.

My name is Marianne Grainger and I come from the small town of Geelong in Victoria. I have lived in Perth since the mid seventies and have loved it ever since. My journey into the realms of alternative therapies began about four years ago. I had quite a few health problems, lots of surgery, and a weight problem. I could hardly get out of bed. I had no energy and no will to live, becoming almost suicidal, till one day I decided I’d had enough and decided to fix myself up. Thus began an incredible journey into the realms of consciousness that lead me to where I am today.

It all began with a simple Shiatsu self massage book. I used to perform this treatment daily and do foot spas and face steams using oils and reflexology techniques incorporating the pressure points. I then learnt massage with the emphasis on self massage and taught myself Yoga and other exercise modalities. From there I took up Reiki, gems, magnets, nutrition, herbs, etc., till I quickly found myself without a weight problem and a life. The incredible spiritual journey that occurred along the way is something I still find awesome in the fact that it happened to little old me, but I know that it can happen to anyone, if they but open their hearts and ask.

I hurt myself a couple of years ago trying to help lift a lady out of a wheel chair. I tore a muscle in my shoulder and lost control in my lower parts due to stitched tissue being forced apart. I tried to get the shoulder seen to and instead had a nerve entrapment that left me without full use of my arm. So I went to learn Bowen through the facial kinetics branch of the modality. Since then I have fixed most of my problems again myself and have studied various modalities along the way.

I accompanied my daughter on a recent natural therapies course to obtain government accreditation for what I mostly already did. It proved to be very rewarding and enthused me to carry on with the thought of passing on what I have learnt to others. I have since completed an aromatherapy diploma with the view to teach Cert 1V massage, herbs, advanced massage courses in Manual Lymphatic drainage, including Shiatsu tsubo points and meridian stimulation. I wish to include self heal and exercise programs to keep fit and offer these to clients for their own self healing journeys. I have found crystals to be an integral part of my healing process and the making of wands, flower remedies, etc., so these too I wish to pass on. I also have found the Reiki and Seichem, that I have mostly been guided to learn, invaluable along the way.

Everything I have learnt seems to fit together like a jigsaw puzzle into a unique blend of what I needed most and still do. The cranial sacral work was so much like the Yoga healing and Reiki I already practiced that it was love at first sight. The myofacial release, very much like the stretch release work I already did, but with a more gentle massage type approach. Chakra balancing and colour healing have always been a part of what I have done and have found my method unique in its alchemical approach compared to other methods I have been shown. Kinergetics, RESET and Kiniesiology have been a great asset in muscle and meridian testing, as well as chakras, organs and hydration. However my pendulums have always been my best friends and without them I know not where I’d be. Guidance is the key to health.

There is a great need to pass this on in a common sense manner to aid in the self healing of individuals that they may eventually undertake the journey to become part of the whole, and embrace life to the full, through sharing in a holistic manner. Meanwhile, I look forward to meeting new clients in my clinic as I find helping one another to be extremely rewarding in a spiritual sense.
